We asked random students, and a teacher what they thought the word jocular meant.
Mrs.Vermillion: A guy who thinks He's a jock.
Evan: a man
Jaylyn: a girl
Rebekkah: running or something?
Brook: funny
Austin: stupid
Random kid nobody knows: A very fat, plump, vivacious, pink elephant that can make his skin purple, has a job in the circus jumping through hoops, and has three math degrees.

Last Friday we had a volleyball game, but it was no ordinary volleyball night. The teachers and staff played against our vollyball girls. It was a very fun night we all played and had a ball. The teachers played very well and the students that played didn't do so hot. but there was a lot of laughs and good times made.

Basketball Start-Up
Basketball has started up. Our new principal, Coach Duffel, will be coaching the girls basketball team this year while Coach Caleb Waddell coaches the guys team. The first games for both teams will be in November. Dakota Jack, Caleb Hoenshell, Johnathan Kirkland, and Mason Anderson will be playing as the mascot this year. God has blessed us with a great group of kids and we pray that He will give these athletes the strength to play for Him.

solar balloon!
The freshmen got a chance to experience a solar balloon, a solar balloon is a like huge black trash bag that when gets laid out onto concrete and filled up with air from a fan and heat from the sun. The bag begins to rise and as soon as you tie the mouth of the bag it floats up high. their is a person on the other side of the bag holding a string so the bag doesn't fly away. the bag is approximately 50ft long but it had a hole in it so it was 40ft. So the freshmen had a wonderful time chasing the big solar balloon- Sarah Swank:)

BCA moved in our lockers last week. Although I might not use these lockers, considering I am a Senior this year and I am only at school half the day, I believe that these lockers will help out the upper students this year so that they won't have to carry all of their items into class. Carrying the lockers up stairs was a hassle, but most of them are ready to be used. There is a lot of progress this year at Berean, and the lockers are just the beginning.

What's Up, Chuck?
What should I do if I have stage fright but I have to perform? -Anonymous
Everyone has some type of fright in their life. Just stay strong and trust God. Remember, if you have given your situation to God, He will never let you fall. "And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by Him." Colossians 3:17 Give thanks to Him, whatever the outcome is.

The school has been trying to set up lockers for the past year or so, and we finally got them upstairs today. I am very appreciative to have these lockers for the high school students. We carry a lot of books and things in our back packs and it will be a great relief to have a place to put our belongings. I think that we should paint the lockers navy blue or maroon (our school colors) instead of the brown color that they are now. But, other than that, I think that the lockers will be very helpful and appreciated by the majority of the students.

So, my view on the lockers is...I personaly like the idea of the lockers, why you ask? well, I shall tell you. I like them because our bags weigh like 56546946543 pounds so it's hard to lug all that weight around! so I think the lockers are a wonderful idea! also I think we should get to exspress our true colors! hopefully we can paint them and make them pretty, I'm hopeing we can pick a color either navy or maroon(our school colors). So far the lockers are a great hit there kinda loud but we're getting used to the slamming noise haha...So I give them a thumbs up!!!

Austin Mccleery is a seventh grader at BCA. This is his second year here at Berean. He is 13, and he went to ACA before he came here to BCA. He has a little sister in the fifth grade, and she goes to school here as well . He loves playing and watching sports, basketball and football mostly. His favorite team is the Dalles Cowboys. He likes school; his favorite subject is history. His teacher said, ''Austin is a model student. He works very hard to get his work done before he will go and do other activities.'' He is a great student and one we love to have here at BCA, and we will contine to pray for him as the year goes on. -Brent Downs
country fun fair!
As I pulled into the drive way I saw a fire truck and beyond that their was a parking lot full of people and a feild full of cars. When I parked and got to the lot I saw my group of friends and we walked around together. We saw alot of booths, there was a booth for just about anything. At the end of the night the "fish Stick" group gave a wonderful performance and the Ledbetters sang and gave a speech that was very awesome!, so all in all it was a great night.-Sarah Swank & Marenda Crouch:)
The Last Set of the Year
The last games of the season were last week. The girls played a game on Thursday in Aurora against the El Dorado Springs Buffaloes. It was a great game and finished off when number 4, Jessica Smith, scored the final two points. The audience also enjoyed the presence of Leo the Lion, who helped cheer the girls on. The Volleyball girls finished off in third place at a tournament in Bentonville on Saturday. All in all, the season was pretty good. They had three girls who returned from last year. We will be waiting for next year when the season starts up again. As for now, basketball season has started. --By Mason Anderson
