There we were; Carthage, Missouri. Berean Christian Academy had a guy's basketball game against the Carthage Christian Academy. The first half, I watched as one of the BCA players, Mason Anderson, get called to sit on the bench because of his three fouls he had obtained. The refs were home team refs and so the advantage went to Carthage. As soon as the second half started, Mason grasped the basketball that was in the hands of the opposing team. As they both struggle to take possession of the ball, the Carthage player began to swing his elbows like a helicopter, hitting Mason in the face. After the first and second hit to the face, the Carthage player lowered his striking force of his elbow and struck Mason's throat. The whistle blew and the foul was on Mason. Suddenly, out of anger, Mason turned into the Hulk and crushed the ref with his pinkie. After he mutilated the offical, he grabbed the ball and took a bite out of it, causing the ball to explode. And then, the player that had been elbowing him snuck up behind him and was going to bash him across the head with a 2x4. So I jumped out of my seat and flew through the air and drop kicked the kid in the back of the forehead, saving Mason's life. Then I, Caleb Downs, hooked arms with Mason, and we flew through the roof.

Secretary Spotlight
Instead of the usual Teacher Spotlight, I interviewed the school's secretary. Amy Lucas has been the secretary at Berean for four years. Her favorite thing about her job is that there is never a dull moment in the office. Mrs. Lucas was featuring some pretty pink nail polish, although her favorite color is purple. Amy like to spend time with her family while she’s not at work, and shrimp is her favorite food. Amy said Philippians 4:13 is her favorite Bible verse, it states “ I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. As always, please remember to keep the staff, students, and volunteers here at B.C.A. in your prayers! God BlessJ

Isaiah 59:1-2 (Sarah's edit)
1Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
2But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
Hmm. well, My view from these two verses is: God is the real deal, He CAN save us and He CAN hear us when we cry out to Him. But what keeps us from Him is our sin, our sin separates us from God. When we cry out to God seeking forgiveness, He will forgive us. So when we go to God with our problems and confess what we've done we can again be HAppy wiff God. Then all is good.~Saharah Spank

Isaiah 59
The summary of the first two verses of Isaiah 59 is that God is so eager to have a personal relationship with with us. There is not one person that He cannot save and there is not one person that He does not hear. God also says that the only thing that separates us from Him is our sin. God is willing to forgive us for our sins if we just put our faith and trust in Him. All sin must be paid for, and that was done through the blood of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. By Mathon Andsome
In Isaiah it explains that God is always merciful and caring. He is always there to listen to our prayers and to show us His compassionate love. It also explains that our sins separate us from His love. Romans 3:23 says: “ For all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”. No one is blameless, but God is loving and shows us that by forgiving our sins. All we have to do is believe that He is God and ask Him to forgive us of our sins. Romans 6:23 states “ For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”. Isaiah 59:1-2 is a great explanation of God’s feelings towards our sins.

Coach's assignment for the bible verses
Isaiah 59:1-2
1Behold, the LORD's hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:
2But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.
Well what I gather from these two verses is that God can reach out and save us, God can listen and hear our cries to him, But when we sin it separates us from God. This doesn't mean when we sin we go to hell it means when we sin we have to ask for forgiveness. So that when he does forgive us, he will look at us, and he will hear us.

Journalism Class
I believe my favorite class this year would have to be our journalism class. There is so many ideas and things that we can do in this class. We play different games, write about things that are going on in the school using our point of view, and we even get to design the yearbook. We do a lot of interviewing and picture taking. This year was the first year that BCA has started a blog. I am definitely looking forward to the rest of the year :)

Teacher Spotlight
MR. NOWLAND
Mr. Nowland has been teaching for 39 years. He studied physics and taught his first class at the Middle School in Neosho, MO. Mr. Nowland has two sons. His favorite thing to do is to make difficult concepts clear so that people could understand them. His favorite color is green and when we asked him what he would do if thirty thousand Indians came up to him, he told us he would just leave.

Last thursaday's games
There were two games last week a boys and a girls game. The girls lost 45-43, they played hard to the end and never gave up. Durrel Ennes said '' when there is a boulder in your way you have to go around it.'' The boys lost 55-50 they played the knights a week before and lost by 40 points. Then didn't practice a week and played them and were ahead the whole second half but couldn't pull off a win. Both teams look forward to the rest of the season. by blent dunes
Saharh's veiw on snow
I really do not enjoy snow because it's very cold, the roads always ice over, and most important we don't have school, personally I like school. So when we do have a snow day I normally make a fire at my house and be all snuggly with a huge blanket and drink a warm beverage and sometimes I go outside and mess around...So in my opinion snow is like white death. -Saharah
Greek God/Goddess Barbies!
In language II the sophomores are studying Greek gods and goddesses. In order to help them understand a few of the charachters better, they all designed a barbie to look like a chosen god or goddess. Along with making the barbie look like their charachter, they also had to say who the god or goddess was, and some things about him/her. I thought this was a great way to learn about what we are studying, and it was also great fun!

Brents idea's for spirit week!
There are four days of spirit week. The first day we should have a pajama day. Then we should have a sports day. Like, dress up wearing your favorite team cloths. Then we should have a crazy hair day. Then the last day we should have a class color day, every class has a color and we dress up wearing that color. No matter what we do we will have a fun and exciting spirit week.

Fun in the Snow
We went around and asked a handful of kids what they did in the snow yesterday. When I asked the first graders what they did in the snow, they both said that they did nothing! Yea nothing . Then I asked a couple of second graders Addison said she made snow angels played in the snow with her brother and went sledding. Ethan said he made snow angels too and had a snow ball fight with his brother ( me). He also wrote his name in the snow, played on the ice and played with his dog. Then I asked Austen, a 7th grader what he did he played with his dogs, ran around, and then went to a cave. Brooke did nothing at all. I played with my little brother and Sarah put on her snow stuff and fell in the snow and did a summer salt and fell on her back.

Student of the Week
This week we interviewed Roberto Heilbron. Robert is a new student at Berean this week. He said he doesn't enjoy school so far, but he does like math! Robert likes to laugh, and if he was a vegetable he would be a tomato. He is also a cat person and his favorite color is blue. Hopefully, his experiences here at Berean would be one to remember in a pleasant way!

SHIP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Last night, a ship passed by the North side of the island. The Northerners caught the attention of the captain of the ship and were finally free from the dreaded island. The captain had found a floating bottle with a picture of one of the Northerners and her family. The captain found the family and was able to find where the Northerners had been stranded.

Central group
There was a storm out in the sea and brought some very high waves onto the island and washed out our spring. The spring is now full of salt water and we don't have any fresh water,so that means we will have to move our camp more inland. We are still ''STRANDED''.
Sorry for the lack of posts!
Kay, so as you may have noticed, the blog hasn't had any posts for the past couple weeks... But, we have a legit reason! You see, all the journalists that have currently been working on this site have mysteriously dissappeared. I have heard rumors of a brilliant discovery that was recently made by the four journalists, but no reasoning has showed to be how valid that is. Good news though, we have recruited four new journalists with the same names so it will help to ease the confusion. Enjoy the blog!

Last Wendat Challenge
Unfortunatly, the Wendat's had a flu outbreak. Sadly, they have not had a chance to escape and another team on the island did. The game is officially over, and we are still stranded, with the flu. It's a sad day here in the west.
