Haunted Paragraph

The Basketball Season

So far, the basketball season has gone well. On our record, we have two losses and one win. We have about 19 games left. We are doing well, but we have got to play smarter on offense. I think Coach is enjoying this season with us. Caleb Hoenshell said this about the season so far " We are doing ok. I don't like practice that much, but I like the games." So, we have practice today and a game tomorrow, so somebody will update this blog  later- Austin

The Basketball Teams' Loss....

The basketball team just lost another good player. About an hour ago Tim announced that he had talked to Coach about basketball and is quitting the basketball team. Tim claims that it was because he just couldn't keep up with school and homework on top of basketball. He says, "If something has to give, I think it should be basketball." I think this is the best decision Tim could make about this and I am going to miss Tim out on the court. This is not the first time someone has quit. Escher quit after about the third practice for the same reason as Tim. I hope we don't loose any more good players.

A non BCA related post!

So... I was scrolling around on the MSN home page and I noticed an eye-catching article! The Ford Motor Company said that they will start releasing body shells for the 65' Mustang convertible! I personally believe that it would be better if they made coupes instead, but o well life goes on.  This is still really good news for all you classic mustang fans out there like me!

BCA Lions vs. Carthage Crusaders (Tuesday October 25th)

First off  #33 Caleb Hoenshell got the ball at the jump to begin the game. Austin McCleery started the game at point guard; he hit two three pointers last night. So far this season we have a 1-2 record and our next game is November 1st @ Westview. We opened up our season October 18th here in Monett against Anderson and we lost 22-71 and we were 0-1, then Thursday October 20th we played at Webb City against Carthage Crusaders and we won 41-38 in that game and we were 1-1, then Tuesday October 25th we played in Monett against Carthage Crusaders and we lost 38-48 and we are now 1-2.

The girls game

I have not yet received the information of who won the tip on the girls' ball game, but I will be sure to update this post when I receive that information. But anyway, the girls game started off with the two teams being relatively close in score. The girls' game really started going downhill during the last few minutes of the second quarter. Most people thought that at the end of the first half the girls would go back and get a nice little pep talk and come back and win. This was not the case, however, because the girls continued to fall behind until the end of the game where they lost 20 to 53.

Day One - Mock Trial

On day one, we arrived at the small and quiet town of Dayton, Tennessee. Usually there's not much activity in the town, but today there was. There were many people in the street and by the courthouse. They could not go in the courthouse because they were afraid the floor would fall in, so they held the trial in the courthouse lawn. Many people were holding signs about how evolution is wrong. I was not part of the trial on day one, so I don't what went on, but maybe I will on day two.

Day One Of The Scope Trial

It's day one for the trial and I, as a defending lawyer, need to get focused and ready for the case. The only thing is that when I get there, there are so many people that the floor began to crack! We all went out into the front yard. I got agitated that we were delayed and that I had to wait even longer than before. Once we get into the case, someone calls my partner up to the stand. it was very nerve-wrecking. That whole day was one that i had never experianced before.

Day One of the Mock Trial of Scopes - Monkeys Case

So today is the first day of the trial and today I was taken to court for teaching Evolution in my General Science class. As I drove through the streets of Dayton, Tennessee I noticed that everything was very packed. There were people lined up on the sides of the streets holding signs saying idiotic things like: "Read your Bible!" "God is love!" and "Where will you spend your eternity?"  I think it was a little silly. I mean how can you put a name on something you can't see? How do you even know that the person cares about you? I think people do infact have a right to their own religion. That is why I'm here anyway right? I taught what I believed and I got in trouble for it because a few people didn't agree with what I believe. I won't be going into the court house today so I guess I will be done with this blog. I will be back tomorrow telling you about what happened in Day 2 in the trial.

                                                 -John Scopes-
Day one Mock Trial, As I arrived I was interviewed by the most annoying reporter. I have a extreme head ache from hearing the average Bible pounding preachers preaching in the streets , and the Court room is packed and it is extremely stuffy. And to make matters worse I have been fined by that stupid judge 5,000 dollars for being "disrespectful". So I did the logical thing and I apologized and that "so called" judge responded with I quote "interesting", its days like today I hate my job.

Day one mock trial

Today is the first day of the Scope's trial and there are a lot of people here to see the court trial. The court room is absolutely packed and is so crowded you can hardly breath. The closeness and claustraphobia of the room is made even worse by the fact that there is only one window. The judge just came in and the whole room is now quiet and, after we prayed, the bailiff introduced Judge Ralstin. The Judge is filling Darrow with contempt of court, so he either goes to jail or he has to pay a $5,000 fine. Darrow has just apologized to the Judge for being disrespectful and is beging for forgiveness from the Judge.

Mock Trial: Day One

Today we arrived in the small town where the trial is being held. The town is small and quiet, not a whole lot goes one, and there are signs plastered all over buildings protesting against evolution. When we arrived in the super crowded court room, I was interviewed. I didn't mind the interview a whole lot, but I have a feeling that this will be a long, drawn out process, and a lot of toes will be stepped on. We can't tell of anything else at the moment, but we will post more as the case progresses.

Our first game

Now usually, Austin is the one that reports on all the sports activity. But Austin is tied up uploading videos of the game so he gave me the ok to write about the first guys and girls games.
The girls game was pretty much neck and neck up until the ending of the game when the lions pulled ahead to win the game with a 38 to 37 lead.
Now onto the guys game...the guys game started with the guys pulling ahead with the first shot. After that it was all pretty much down hill. The other team would get the rebound by jumping on our backs and throwing the ball with all their might to the other end of the court where a person of great agility would be waiting to make an easy lay-up. They did this for the whole game and severly crushed us. The final score was (and I really don't want to post this) 22 to 77. Hopefully our next game will be better.

Please pray for us

Mock trial request: I was born to be a lawyer

I am running for the position of the defense's lawyer. I think I would be a suitable person to fulfill this roll because of my abilities to explain things well and help persuade people to agree with me. I also like wearing suits and interrogating people. If I get this position I will be able to do this.

-Caleb Hoenshell

Another Mock Trial Request

I would like to be the bailif in this case because I enjoy things that have to do with justice and guns, and it just so happens that a bailif is like a cop, and they are involved in both my favorite things ( guns and justice). Also, I do enjoy an occasional doughnut like cops do. Lol :P

Brooke Keeling

Judge - Escher Dollar

I think I can be the judge because I feel I can give a just, un-biased sentince after hearing all the evidence and the jury.

My Role

I would like to be the bailiff. He is a policeman that says " All rise...". I don't know why I want to be the bailiff, I guess because i like doughnuts. :). I will probably end up being one of the witnesses, though. - Austin

Monica should be the Bad Guy (John Scopes)

Now in Journalism Class we are doing a Mock Trial of the Scopes-Monkey Case. We are all suppose to pick someone that we would like to be in the case. I would really like to be the Defendent. John Scopes. I want to be him because I really like being the bad guy because I think it is very fun.

Book Report

I have recently read a book called The Hunger Games. It is sad, but it draws you in and you want to know more. Here is a little info from the novel:

"In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlaying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by foecing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live tv.
Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to death before- and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life againdt love."
I think it is sweet that Katniss risks her life for her sister, Prim. I also find that at times the kills in the games can be graphic, but not as bad as it could be.I find that it is a really good book and if you don't believe me, ask Mrs. Thompson.

What do you want to be when you are older?

Today I went around and asked a few kids What they wanted to be when they were older. 7th Grader Noah Cullers said "Egyptology" 1st grader Mekelle said "a veterinarian." Victoria Evens said "I want to be an animal trainer." There were many answers to my questions. You should comment on here and tell me what you want to be when you are older.

I went around school and asked the following question:

What do you think the definition of crony is?

Ashtyn McCleery said, "a silverish color."  On the other hand, Coach belted, "a buddy or friend."  Zack Thompson, eleventh grader, questioned, "Some sort of food?" Austin McCleery stated " a drug". Kayla Bounous said " old or cranky". Caleb hoenshell expressed " it reminds me of crunchy so I think its cereal"

The definition is a close companion or freind. Congrats Coach

dress code!

Here at BCA we follow a dress code. For Mondays and Tuesdays the guys wear Polo's and blue jeans. The shirts must be tucked in and the jeans cannot have any holes in them. The girls have the choice of wearing denim skirts with Polo's or either khaki or navy blue dress pants. On Wednesday the guys wear oxford shirts and a tie with khaki pants and dress shoes. Finally on Thursday we go back to the attire that we wear on Mondays and Tuesdays. However this Thursday we will be able to wear our BCA shirts and jeans for both the guys and girls!!! So be sure and remember! Kayla Bounous says ''I think its very comfy and I don't get discriminated about what socks I wear- I hope Coach reads this (smiley) ''

The Family Fun Fair

This is a quote from Mrs.Richard about the Family Fun Fair,."It was a beautiful day, the food and the entertainment was great and the fireworks were revolutionary." I agree totally with the above quote, the Family Fun Fair was awesome. They had great food, music, and very interresting booths. Cant wait until next years fun fair.

Something to get the basketball team some money (we need it)

A few days ago last week, Coach gave us a form that will allow us to get money....It works like a sponsorship where we ask people to give us a set amount of money per shot. You have a choice of either doing lay ups or free throws. You, of course, have to inform the people whether you are doing lay ups or free throws because free throws are harder. this allows the person to adjust the amount of money they give accordingly. Coach says "I've tried this before and it works boys...it works." I just realized that no one will care about what I'm writing. Well, if you care about the BCA lions basketball I think you will have liked this one.

Desks!

This week, we got some desks. The chair part is orange, and the desk part is wood. Some of the desks have cages for books, but some of them do not. Sarah Swank said this about the desks," I hate them, we don't have much space on them. We have to put our books on the floor."   Coach Duffel said," I like them because it gives a different atmosphere on learning and a traditional atmosphere of a school". So, some people like the new desks, but some people don't. Either way, we will have to live with them. :)
