What Do You Think Ambiguous Means?

Austin and I decided to go on another journey through Berean to find out what people think ambiguous means. Here's the results...

Chase- "uhhmm.....extremely huge?"

Mr. Holder- "a far-fetched idea or answer"

Coach- (shakes head in disappointment) "strain?"

Mrs. Amy- "being not sneaky" (that was her first answer, she took back that answer and said she didn't know)

Now I know you must be dying to hear what this word means, so we decided to tell you. The definition of ambiguous is....located in the sentence below.

Ambiguous- open to or having several possible meanings or interpretations

Hey my name is Tim and im gonna tell you a little bit about agricluture here in missouri.
The Missouri Department of Agriculture is nearing completion of its investigation of a case of low pathogenic avian influenza in Polk County. Test results provided by USDA confirm "apparent subclinical infection of low pathogenic avian influenza (H7N3)" on the initial flock of meat-type turkeys. On March 25, Missouri's State Veterinarian was notified that preliminary results from routine testing indicated the presence of avian influenza. Biosecurity measures were immediately enacted and the facility was quarantined. Low pathogenic avian influenza is very rarely transmitted to humans and does not pose a health threat or risk to the food supply.
Subsequent tests performed by the National Veterinary Services Laboratory in Ames, Iowa revealed no shedding of the virus. As a result, the adult birds were released from quarantine on March 31 by the USDA Area Veterinarian in Charge and the State Veterinarian and then transported to a Cargill facility for processing. The younger birds on the farm premises were depopulated pursuant to biosecurity protocols.
Avian influenza is a viral disease affecting birds. It occurs naturally and may be spread by wildlife. As a precautionary measure, flocks within six miles of the facility are being tested and monitored.
The Missouri Department of Agriculture and the Missouri Department of Health and Senior Services continue to work closely with the USDA to monitor the situation.

Scopes Trial Day 3

The third day of the trial was quite interesting. The judge wanted to open in prayer, but Mr. Malone objected. Since the trial was basically about the separation of education and religion, he did not agree to opening with prayer everyday. At the end of the argument, the judge told them that he always opened in prayer, and that was that.                                                        -Defending Attourney-

Exciting School News!!!!!!!

So recently we have found out that we have successfully raised enough money to begin the construction of our new well!!!!! Our school has needed a well for about two years now and our hopes finally pulled through! We thank God and everyone who donated time and money to allow us to have this oppurtunity!

Character Paragraphs

Ok, so we had these paragraphs to write about faithfulness for the month of November. It turns out I won along with many others. So on the 21st of November( Monday), the others and I get to ride in a limo and get a free lunch. It was a pretty easy paragraph to write, so I am looking forward to it. - Austin

Day 3 Mock Trial :) John Scopes

So today in court Charles Darrow decided to complain about praying at the beginning of court. And that is pretty much all we did today but I guess we will start all over tomorrow

Day three Scope's trial

Today we were planning on continuing with the court trial, however, Mr. Darrow seemed to see fit to make things difficult for everyone. When asked to pray, Mr. Darrow replied that he did not agree with praying before the trial, especially in front of the jury. The jury was not in the room at the time so this seemed like a meaningless objection to me. The judge has always made it a point to pray for guidance to make the right decisions in the trial that was about to happen. This seemed silly to me to disrespect the judge's commitment to prayer before the trial. This disagreement took up most of the day so we will have to continue the trial tomorrow. Hopefully and prayerfully, without any more unnecessary interruptions.

-William Jennings Bryan

Thanksgiving Paragraph

Mock Trial: Day 3

So, we have had two days of of the trial. On day three, Mr. Darrow and the court had a arguement about    opening with prayer. Mr. Darrow objected to open with prayer. So they eventually ended the day for the trial. We will see what happens on day four.

Scopes Day 3

After a long and stressful two days of court hearing's, we all came in for yet another court hearing. We were all hopeful and probably ready to go home before it even started. So the day started out with the court asking Mr. Darrow to open with prayer. He rejected to open with prayer, and that issue was what took up the days worth of discussion. I personally believe that the day would've gone really smooth if we had all agreed to pray. And thus concludes a summary of day three of trial's.

                                                                                                                -Sincerely,
                                                                                                                              Mr. Butler

Sports Stories

Time for the weekly update on BCA's basketball teams. The girls game went fine until the end of the third quarter. That was when it went fantastic. The girls started to really get ahead during this time and throughout the rest of the game. The final score of the girls game was BCA: 38, ACA: 27.

The guys game started out good for the first five minutes. And like some other games where we play guys that are six inches taller than us, the game started to get bad for us. Before we knew it, we were down by 20 points and running up and down the court all in vain. Coach said that we did not do a good job blocking out the opposing team. The score at the end was BCA: 19; ACA: 59. What can I say? It was better than our first game.

Editorial - Escher

Does violence in the media promote violence in society?

In my opinion, no, and here are three reasons why. Some people that don't like this certian type of media will blame them for violence with out any evidence. Some people will say they did or do bad things because they say it in the the media, however I believe if if you aren't mentally challenged or a kid this isn't true, becuse a grow person with no mental disabilities is smart enough not to be voilent just because they say it in the media, and that if a kid or mental person did it it's the parent/guardian/care takers fault for letting them because the games are to advance and to old for them. Some people who have been arrested for violence will say that it's the medias fault so they can either get a lighter sentence or just have all the people focus on the subjecy instead of them.

Editorial-Opinions?

Is divorce always bad for children?
Yes, I think that divorce is always bad for children. Why you may ask?

                                       1. I think that it is unfair to children of divorced families to have to travel from house to house. They don't really have anything permanent as a family like a permanent room or house etc.
                                       2. Children of divorced families often feel as if their parent's seperation was their fault and it is not for fair for anay child to have to live feeling like they are complete failures and responsible for something they really aren't.

                                       3. God doesn't like divorce. That reason alone should tell you that no matter what the divorce isn't gonna end well. ( Matthew 19:6 "For they are no longer two but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man seperate.")

Student and teacher of the month

We are about to begin student and teacher of the month. The student will be chosen based on their actions and a paragraph wriiten on the assigned subject. This months subject is faithfullness. On the back of the forms given out for the paragraph there are names of all the staff members and all the students must choose one they would like to be student of the month. The winning teacher and student will be escorted in a limo to a resturant of choice in monett. I think this is a great idea and should be a lot of fun.

My Editorial Opinion

The question was: Is divorce always bad for children?

To me, not necessarily.  Here is some supporting evidence:

         1. Abusive parents toward child(ren).
         2. Abusive parents toward each other.
         3. Opportunity to have a better life.

So, I think it's not always for children to go through a divorce, but some people may think differently.

Is divorce always bad for kids #22, by Tim Moore

My onion is I do not always think divorce is bad, and my supporting evidence are my grandparents have been divorced before and I witnessed my mom getting beaten, and she got divorced and she is doing way better.

Monica's Editorial

In our Editorial Prewriting Organizer we got to choose what we thought about a few different things. Then I got to choose which one I wanted to discuss the most. I chose Is divorce always bad for the children? I chose to say no. The following is my reasoning for my choice.

First, I think that divorce can be good for the children if it is an abusive relationship. If the parent is abusive to the child, it would be better for the child to be away from the parent. Next, If one parent is abusive toward another they shouldn’t put themselves around each other and they should leave. Finally, I know that it is better for some people because my mother has been divorced and she has become a better person. It has changed her because she has made better choices for us children.

These are the reasons I think that divorce is not always bad for children.

Editorial Organizer, What do you think?

Does violence in the media, promote violence in society?

My opinion is that violence in the media promotes violence in society. Media pertains to TV, video games, etc.

Evidence?

-When I was younger, I knew a kid that was totally obsessed with fighting and getting powers. I’m sure he got this from watching Power Rangers and Pokémon which both have a lot of violence in them.

- I heard a story about a girl that went to jail because she took a gun and shot a police officer. When asked why she did this, she responded, “Don’t worry, he’ll come back to life tomorrow.”

-People have camped out in front of Best Buy and Wal-Mart waiting for a video game to come out so they could buy it first thing.

Conclusion/Summary

People can be influenced by the media. When people see swearing on TV, I believe they can be encouraged to swear as their “TV idols” do. Also, not all media is based off of real world events. For example, video games today contain killing zombies. People can still be influenced to be violent from killing zombies all day long.

--Caleb Hoenshell

Brookes Editorial

Do you think  Divorce is always bad ??????

I believe that divorce is not always bad for childern. For instance if a child had and an abusive parent then I think it would be better to get the child away from that situation. I have a friend who had an abusive father and her mother got a divorce and she said it was the best thing that could have happened. My friend lived a hard life and a lot of other children do and sometimes with a divorce can solve the problem. So as I said befor i dont believe it is always bad.
My choice for the Editorial is topic 22 which is “Is it always bad for parents to have a divorce “.
My opinion would haft to be yes because, every time a set of parents go through a divorce the children
always go through some emotional distress. Also another point of evidence is a lot of time when a set of
parents go through a divorce a little boy will usually live his life without the proper masculine figure in
his life , the same way goes with girls, children need both sets of parents to grow spiritually and mentally.
This is why I think that divorce is always bad for the children.

Scopes Trial: Day 2

Day two of the trial was pretty much an epic battle between Darrow and the court. He was telling them about how the law was unconstitutional and shouldn't be allowed to be an enforced law. He said that if it becomes banned in public schools, then it will become banned in every other things. And that pretty much summarize's day two.

Day 2

Today all I did today is try to explain about evolution and why it is true.

                                                           Charles Darrow

Day 2

Today, the biggest thing was what Darrow said. He was talking about how if they say teaching evolution in public schools is a crime, then they'll move on to private schools and churches. Darrow had a really good point. All in all, it was an uneventful day.                                                                                                               By Jonathan Kirkland ------------ Other Defense Attorneys

Day 2 Mock Trail -John Scopes-

Today Charles Darrow talked about what he thought about evolution and it was a pretty short day other thatn that.

The Weekly LOL - Halloween (late)

Funny, but true.

Day 2 of the Mock Trial

Well, on day 2, nothing much happened. It mainly was Dorrow fighting with the court. Defender Darrow talked about how if you teach evolution in public schools,  they will make it a crime to teach in public school and chuch. Other than that, there was not much on day 2. We will see what happens on day 3. :)

Day two of Scopes Trial

Today was the second day of the Scopes trial, and it pretty well consisted of just Darrow making a pretty convincing arguments against the law he violated. Here is a quote from today's trial, "If today you can take a thing like evolution and make it a crime to teach it in the public school, tomorrow you can make it a crime to teach it in the private schools, and the next year you can make it a crime to teach it to the hustings or in the church." Now there's no doubt that Darrow makes some good points, but as the prosecution's lawyer, I feel I can persuade the jury that the law Darrow violated is indeed constitutional.
