Editorial Organizer, What do you think?

Does violence in the media, promote violence in society?

My opinion is that violence in the media promotes violence in society. Media pertains to TV, video games, etc.

Evidence?

-When I was younger, I knew a kid that was totally obsessed with fighting and getting powers. I’m sure he got this from watching Power Rangers and Pokémon which both have a lot of violence in them.

- I heard a story about a girl that went to jail because she took a gun and shot a police officer. When asked why she did this, she responded, “Don’t worry, he’ll come back to life tomorrow.”

-People have camped out in front of Best Buy and Wal-Mart waiting for a video game to come out so they could buy it first thing.

Conclusion/Summary

People can be influenced by the media. When people see swearing on TV, I believe they can be encouraged to swear as their “TV idols” do. Also, not all media is based off of real world events. For example, video games today contain killing zombies. People can still be influenced to be violent from killing zombies all day long.
