Believe it or not, journalism students are human and make mistakes. Lucky for them, I am willing to take time out of my day and correct their mistakes to represent our class more correctly. Because I don't make mistakes. I am flawless.

Chase- Half of the week Hanna- I don't know.. Amy Lucas- Half a week Marenda- Every two weeks And once we were done with the humans, we once again turned to our faithful and loyal Bus for answers. Doubters

Hey, everyone! :) I just wanted to post this little update for all of the journalism class students that doubt our faithful audience. A certain student made a claim that we don't have any readers, and I beg to differ. We had at least 13 views today, and over 300 for the month of October. Check out the stats! We also have viewers from every continent, excluding Antarctica. Of course, that can't really count because only scientists and penguins live there. Who needs penguins as readers, really? And don't get me started on scientists! ;) Pageviews today 13 Pageviews yesterday 4 Pageviews last month 392 Pageviews all time history 6,678 --Mrs. Thompson

John The Bumble Bee

Once upon a time there was a bumble bee named John. John was an outcast bee. All the other bees used to laugh and call him names. They never let poor John join in any bumble bee games. Then one foggy thanksgiving eve the queen came to say John you suck at everything, leave the hive and dont come back! Then all the bumble bees hated him and shouted out with rage, "John you rotten bumble bee, go and fly away from me! The End :)

The Word Of The Day!

Austin and I once again went on an extravaganza across the mighty school of Berean Christian Academy asking people what another word meant. This time the word was "Brobdingnagian" and this might just be the hardest....most difficult word that we have ever asked the defintion for. Here are the results: Coach- What in the world?! I don't know, but it sounds perverted... Get away from me! Chase- Annoying Shelby- Uhh annoying? (great minds think alike) Mrs. Amy- The sound a woman makes expressing her distress. After all these mortal humans failed at guessing the definition of the word, we asked our amazingly faithful and loyal Bus. And the Bus answered with... The Bus- Huge! Just like me. Amzingly, the bus answered correctly! In fact that is the exact definition of Brobdingnagian. Join Austin and me next time for the word of the day. - Caleb and Austin ;)

What do you think fulgerent means?

Austin and I went around the school today asking people what the word of the day meant. Now you may remember that Austin and I did something like this last year. In fact, this is exactly the same thing we did last year. But anyway, let's get to the responses. Keep in mind the word is...fulgerent. Zack- "something to do with trees" Chase- (you all remember we always have to include Chase in these questions) "hmmm I think it means sad." Ashtyn- "filtered" (that wasn't a very good answer) Abi- "It has to do with coffee because of the Folgers coffee company." Holder- "something nasty" Well now that we have all those answers, let's tell the actual meaning. Fulgerent-flashing like lightning. We look forward to the next word of the day. Until then, stay frosty. Austin McCleery and Caleb Hoenshell ;)

The Sad Story

"GET OUT YOU DUMB MUTT" I had made my human very angry. But I swear, it wasn't my fault. That stupid cat was taunting me and just asking for me to chase him. Unfortunately, our home wasn't big enough for me to run around without breaking a lamp, table, and the tv. When my human got home, I recived a good beating and then was thrown into the night. It was cold, and dark, but I decided it was time for me to move on. So I started walking and by daybreak I was walking along a highway. I know this wasn't a smart move, but I knew if followed it long enough I would end up somewhere that someone would want me. It was approximately 7:50 am when the incident happened. I was just trotting down the highway when I heard something in the bushes beside me. I was so scared I forgot about the fact that I was walking along the highway and jumped into the street just in time to get hit by a white SUV. I saw my life flash before my eyes and fade into a bright white light. And that is how I died.

Word of the DAD-GUM Day

What's up BCA!? Today, Dakota and I went around the school asked what the word "versicolor" meant. Here are our answers: Chase- "a type of instrument" Nat- "no color" Coach- "no idea..." Mr. Holder- "changeable colors" The word meant "changeable in color", so Mr. Holder got it right :D... So we'll see ya next time on the word of the day post! - Austin :)

See you at the pole

There is just something special about young people worshiping the Lord, something about the innocence and sincerity that warms the heart. See you at the pole is a nationally recognized day where schools allow prayer openly, if only for a short amount of time. Once most of our student body was present that cool morning. we proceeded to the flag poles to begin our service. As we pledged our allegiance to God and our country, each individual voice coming together in melodious unity, the flags were raised on at a time. After we finished the pledge to the Bible our extremely talented praise team lead us in the Star Spangled Banner. We stood there with our hands over our hearts looking up at the majestic American flag being guided back and forth by the gentle breeze. I thought, as I'm sure others did, of how truly blessed I was to live in such a wonderful country. After we finished the paying tribute to those who protect our country and us, we worshiped the Lord in song and prepared our hearts for the word about to be presented. Brother Joe Lay brought the very stirring and to the point message, which. I'm sure did us all some good, as I know it did me. Following the message, Coach said a few words and then closed in prayer. The younger children were the dismissed and 7th through 12th grades asked to stay for prayer. Zack quickly made it clear that if we were not going to pray with everything in us we would be better off to go inside. No hard were meant he just wanted this to be a special and sincere time. No one left, not a single person. Zack looked pleased and the took a knee near the American flag, and was soon joined by others. After I finished praying, I stood and thought” How blessed am I ?” as I looked around at my fellow class mates on bended knee humbly praying. See you at the pole has always been a special time for me, the school, and the Nation, and hopefully always will be.
Thank GOD IT IS THURSDAY! Its been a long week all the students say As they wait for the clock to change 3:30, When the clocks strikes the students all run to thier freedom The drivers all pile into their cars and peel out of the parking lot... yep its the average thursday at BCA- Jordan

Sarah's Birthday!

Normally this would be the time where I would introduce a movie that I have recently seen, tell about the good, tell about the bad, and then criticize this movie as much as I can just because I can. Well...unless it's a movie about Batman, then I would just say what I love about it...which would be everything. But I feel that I need to take the time to tell you that yesterday was Sarah Baker's birthday. Now normally I wouldn't care all too much if it was someone else's birthday. But the reason I'm telling you this is because Sarah and her parents bought the whole high school pizza and soda (which we never are allowed to have) as well as cake. So for this I say thank you Sarah Baker and to your parents I say thank you also. So if you ever want your birthday to be posted on the blog like Sarah's is, just remember to buy the high school pizza, and then I would be more than happy to write about it. -Caleb Hoenshell

Lunch Review-

So, we had an amazing lunch Thursday! We had hot dogs, with or without chili, chips cookies and pink lemonade. I didnt try the hot dogs, due to the fact that Im pretty much ANTI hot dog, but I heard they were scrumptious. We some kind of crazy Lary the cable guy chips. They were either barbeque or hamburger(personally I couldnt tell the difference they were equally disgusting to me). They even had some sort of phrase that you would hear come out of Coachs mouth, you know like" mighy fine eatin" or some such nonsence. The pink lemonade was a little waterry but I managed to choke it down. All in all I give the luch the fillong grade. Class: 0 (really Lary the cable guy?) Yummunyness factor:81/2 ( most of what I think is nasty other people love) Beauty factor: F (hot dogs ewwwwwwww) Effort: A ( the basjet ball team rocks) All in all It was a good lunch and a special thanks to the athletics club who did everything :) and Coach who Im sure did something. -Brooke Keeling

The Anti Fairytale

Once upon a time there was a princess named Alivia. She lived in a big castle in the middle of a big enchanted forest and she had everything she could ever want, except for a prince. Every night and every day Alivia just dreamed about finding her prince, but no one ever came to visit her so she didn't think she would ever find him. One day, Alivia decided to take matters into her own hands and run away from the castle to find her prince. As she traveled into the town, she began to realize she wasn't fit for the outside world and became scared. She decided to go back to the castle, but couldn't find her way. She tried to ask for help, but no one wanted to help her so she just started walking. By the time the sun went down, she was in the middle of the enchanted forest. It was dark and she was alone and didn't know what to do. So she laid down to sleep and froze to death in the night. THE END.

Finding Nemo 3D

The Good- The plot to this movie is very good. I always find myself very interested in Pixar movies like Toy Story and this movie is no exception. As well as the plot, the voice acting is also very well done. The voice actors did very well when trying to convey emotion through just the voices of their characters. I strongly recommend you see this movie if you haven’t already. And not to be mean, but if you haven’t seen this movie already, then you sort of live underneath a rock. This movie has been a classic ever since it came out in the early 2000’s and this 3D version is just as good. Now for the not so good… The Bad- Seriously?...over 11 bucks for a dad-gum movie ticket!?!? Why in the world would you want to fork over that much useful cash to see a move? I could come close to understanding it if it were to be like a new amazing action movie or something but it wasn’t. The movie that I foolishly wasted my money on was none other than Finding Nemo 3D. I really wish that I wouldn’t have none this but I did and life goes on. So my opinion is to not go and see this movie, unless you are into wasting money and stuff. -Dakota Jack and Caleb Hoenshell

John the Sea Turtle

Once upon a time there was a baby sea turtle named John. One day, John and his mother got into an argument and he swam away from home. After at least an hour of swimming, John realized that he no longer recognized his surroundings and it was beginning to get dark. So he turned around and started making his way back home. After a while, he realized that nothing was familiar to him and he began to get very scared. He began to see an outline of something in the distance. It was growing larger every second. John began to shake and cry at the thoughts of what the apporaching image would be. He was so scared he just closed his eyes and braced for impact. "JJJOOOOHHHHHNNNNN!" This boominig voice scared John very much until he opened his eyes and realized that it was his mother. "I've been looking everywhere for you! I was so worried!" She scooped John up in her arms and they swam home and lived happily ever after.

MArenda is 17 and is a senior in highschool. Her birthday is on November 15th. Her favorite color is pink and her favorite animal is an elephant. Her favorite movie is Despicable Me and her favorite food is Pe-King. Marendas most embarrasing moment was when her best friend pulled her pants down in front of a bunch of guys. She is awesome and a joy to be aroun.(and shes pretty) Brooke Keeling

Unplesant Surprise

I'm awaken in the middle of the night. Not by a loud noise, but a suttle creaking. A familiar sound to me. Someone was walking down the hallway, towards my room. I'm frozen in fear. Normally, this wouldn't worry people but I live alone. The footsteps got closer and my heart raced faster. Scenarios starting going through my head of different things that could happen. As the doorknob started to turn, I quickly grabbed the gun from my nightstand. Pointed towards the door, the gun was loaded and ready to shoot. The door flung open quickly and out of fear I fired. As I walked over to investigate, I was horrified by what I saw. My best friend laying on the floor, holding balloons and a "Happy Birthday" card, bleeding from the chest.

Movie review

Captain America- movie review This being my first movie review I’m not exactly sure how to go about this. So I’ll give it my best. During the first 30 minutes or so of this movie not a whole lot happens as far as action is concerned. This is probably because the director was trying to give a little character development before he started explaining the story of Captain America and got to the action parts. So during the first 30 minutes of the movie it follows the story of a 90 pound asthmatic named Mr. Rogers as he tries to get enrolled in the army to serve his country. He has been to five different states in an attempt to get enrolled when he comes across a professor that sees promise in him and gives him a chance to become one of America’s new breed of super soldiers. The Good The acting in this movie is pretty good all around with all the actors conforming to their character pretty well. The plot and story is also very good, with the story taking place during the second world war. The not so good The story, at times, drags on a little bit. And the main villain peeling off his face and having no nose and a Satan-like red face was kind of off the wall. And really, if the Nazi’s made all these laser guns and stuff, why does no one have them in the newer Marvel movies. What happened to all of them. So, in conclusion, there are a few plot holes here and there. But don’t let them keep you from watching it. -Caleb Hoenshell

Back To School: Sports Edition

Well, we are now back to school... That means school sports is back. The volleyball season is already underway. After many practices over the summer, the girls v-ball team is getting ready for their season-opening tournement in Betonville, Arkansas this weekend. I'm sure the girls are all pumped about it. Meanwhile, we still have a little bit to go until basketball season starts, but we are gonna be starting practice sometime in September. I'm very excited for this season. LETS GO LIONS!!! - Austin :)

First day of school

Well it’s that time of year again… time to go back to school. No more staying up into the later hours of the night and playing xbox with friends. It’s back to the daily grind. Waking up at 6:00 in the A.M. and leaving by 7:00 appears to be the new going trend. Sadly, this is going to be the schedule for the next nine months…. But we still have next summer to look forward to…even though it may be so far away. Oh well I’m hoping that this year will be a great year! - Dakota

Today was Character Day at BCA. Everyone's costumes looked great and I was extrremely impressed with the creativity displayed. The 7th grade beat the Junior class by 1 vote with their "old folks" theme. The Junior class was the Scooby Doo gang, complete with a mystery machine and everything. The High School teachers, plus Mrs. Larmer, were the Wizard of Oz cast and won for the teacher part. For winning, the 7th grade, the juniors, and the high school teachers got to throw whipped cream pies in Coach's face. Best day ever :) -Ashlee

Art Museum By Monica Jones

SO! Today all art classes from Jr. High through High School were on a field trip to Springfield Art Museum. I thought it was a lot of fun and I liked it a lot more than when I went in 8th grade. We had a better time and things seemed like we could walk more leisurely. I liked getting to pick my favorite one and I saw a lot of projects that I would love to try at home. Thank You Mrs. Larmer for taking us on the trip!

Art Class Field Trip

Well today our Jr. High and Sr. High art class went on a field trip to the Springfield Art Museum in Springfield, Mo. It was pretty fun, but at times it was kinda boring. But it was wayy better than school! So after we finished at the museum, we went to eat at Chipotle Mexican Grill. They had burritos that were HUGE!! And after eating, we went to Andy's Frozen Custard. That place is soo good!!! :). So it was a pretty fun trip, and I am looking forward to the trip next year.

Selling Adds for the Yearbook

Well the journalism class recently went on a trip to sell advertisements for the school yearbook. Despite getting off to a slow start, the three groups did very well. The boys did the best obviously (Caleb, Dakota, and Austin) while Brooke and her group did the second best, and Monica's group didn't tdo that well. All together, the whole class raised $380 to help with the yearbook production.

What these are, are helium filled balloons with a nifty piece of candy tied to them. They are only one dollar per friend o' gram. New Blog Look ~ Escher Dollar

I was thinking of something to blog about, but then I took a found Blogger is getting a new look. I wanted to see the new look so I clicked "upgrade" and I saw the new look, and it looks horrible. It just looks bland and generic. Maybe I'll like it better if I use it more, although I think I'm going to have to because I think it will switch to this new view permanently.

Have you ever heard of any really crazy stories lately? Sometimes you'll hear about a really crazy event, or an act of valliant survival. If you haven't seen a crazy story then try watching a show like 20/20 or something like that, i'd almost bet you'd find atleast one. There will be several ones that I will touch on during this essay-type assignment.  Some even as severe as to cut off a body part, or pull a rocket propelled grenade out of an injured soldier!

The first story I will touch on will be one that I heard of back in the Summertime. There was this farmer who lived in Colorado and he went hunting up in the mountains. On his trip he took a big horse trailer and his truck. When he was about to pack up and head home, he got pinned against a rock and the trailer rolled on to his foot, crushing his toes. He was then forced to cut off his toes... with his pocket knife... all five of them! He then got to a hospital where he was treated and now is doing fine!

The next story I will touch on is one about a military soldier and the fearlessness of his companions. One day a vehicle that was carrying several army troops was taking them to their destination when they were hit with an ambush. One of the troops was hit with an RPG rocket directly in his upper leg/stomach. The crazy part was that it didn't blow up. His troops took him back to base where he was then operated on. The Doctor showed much courage because he actually performed surgery and removed the RPG!! This showed courage because the whole time there was a chance that it could've exploded and killed alot of people. However it didn't and they took the RPG and properly disposed of it, and everyone survived.

Improvements

I, for one, think that we should save up and build a gymnasium on the field south of the school. It would save money for gas used to go to practice for the sports teams, give us a place to play, and would be a great place for breaks in the day. Another thing, we should dig a new well. I realize that we are trying, but this should be our main focus. It would give us ude of the water fountains and we wouldnt have to buy gallons of water or water bottles. I'm sure that these have come up before, I'm just restating them.

We should also get new sports teams. For instance, Tennis, Baseball, Football, maybe even Track. I think we could expand and possibly get publicity. We could get more students, because most of America's teens are obsessed with sports.

So, these are changes I think that, with a little time, money, and work, we could see in this school. Even though these may be my own, personal views, I have no doubt that others feel the same way. This could help us expand and get more students.
                                                                  Thanks,

What Crazy Things People Will Do To Survive. By Monica Jones

Have you ever had a near death experience? Or though about what you would be willing to do if you were caught in one? Throughout history we all have seen some crazy things that people will do to save their lives. We have t.v. shows now about what if we put people out in the wilderness and made them work to survive. We all know the story of the man who even went to the length of cutting his own arm off to escape death.

Here are some crazy stories about how people of all different ages survived by crazy ways of survival.  Nine year old Grayson was lost for a whole 24 hours when he and his parents went on a hiking trip. He survived by ripping his bright yellow jacket up and tied them to trees for people to know where he was. He said he learned if from Man VS Wild and that the show saved his life. Before his parents and him left he snuck a energy bar in his bag so his parents wouln't know. So he wasn't left without food.

In 2003 Aron Ralston cut his arm off in order to survive. He had fallen and got his arm lodged inbetween a 800lbs rock. Throughout the night he didnt know what to do and he finally realized he would have to cut his arm off in order to survive. So he tied it off and cut it off with his own pocket knife.

A Feature(s) I Would Like To Have At The School

One feature I would like to have at this school (BCA) is a nice, wood-floored, giant gymnasuim. Me, being a basketball player, would LOVE to have a gym at the school. We could host our home games at home, and not at some church 11 miles away from the school ( not that there is anything wrong with that). We do have a multi-purpose room, but it is not that big, a concrete floor, and has one of those mobile basketball goals. We would host our basketball and volleyball games, the Family Fun Night, and other activities. It could also be used for recess when it is raining, or even chapel services.

So I think a gymnasium would be very beneficial and good for the school in both an academic and athletic way. I think it would be AMAZING if we got a gym. I mean, it would be fine if it was a small gym would be built, but I really dream of a big gymnasium. Also, we could host the athletic practices instead of driving to a chuch to do it. And the way gas prices are now, it would save some greenbacks.

There is also another thing I think that would be benefical to the school, but it doesn't refer to athletics. I think it would be good if.... the school got Macintosh computers. It would be good for the students to experience this computer. They can do more things than others, and maybe we could make a school app!! But I think both of these things would be good for the school

Super Humans? BY:Jordan

It has been recorded in history many times of men and women going through extraordinary physical feats physically and meantally, for example in 2002 a firefighter bench pressed over 2000 pounds after falling down three stories, or the farmer whos arm was caught in a pice of farming machinery and in order to save his life he cut his own arm off with his pocket knife.

There are many stories like this but they go to show that the human body us capable of "under preassure of course"

What's one feature I would want a highschool to have?

One thing a highschool usually wants to have is a large multi-purpose building. A large multi-purpose bulidng can benefit a school by giving them a large assembly room for different activities like, plays, chapel, and sporting events. A bigger gym/multi-purpose room would be my first suggestion to add to this school because if we had a gym we wouldnt have to travel for a long ways to go to home games. I know many parents and many staff memebers would want this to happen as well as me. But this is not about what this school needs, it's about what I would want a school to have if I had a say in what would happen. So let me begin....

A large multi-purpose building would be beneficial to any school because, as its name suggests, it can be used for many more things than just one activity. For example, it can be used as a gym when sporting events, such as basketball or volleyball games, are scheduled. It can also function as an area to perform chapel, like we do now, and it is also great for plays if you have bleahcers for people to see what's happening on the "stage." At my old school, they used their gym for basketball games, volleyball games, plays, meetings (at times), and chapel when we couldn't go to the church. It can also be used for recess when the it is raining outside.

So, as you can see, a multi-purpose building is a very versital building in which many different activities can be held. For this reason I think that a large multi-purpose building would be a good choice next to just regular school rooms for teaching. The school I used to go to even uses their muti-purpose to hold carnivals to raise money for their school. So this is why any school should have a multi-purpose building or a large gym are which is practically the same thing.

I think that the public schools of today could use allot of improvement in preparing us for the real world. First off they could teach us alot better morals. Like the way they let kids dress these days. When we kids grow up and finish school and try to find good jobs people want to hire kids who present there selfs in a good manner.
Another thing that would really help us in the public schools is to have allot of good programs that would help students learn bout the field they want to go into after school. In the days we are living in it is very important to learn a good trade and have a good job in life. People who never learn anything in school will never be prepared to go out in real life. That is why we need to learn in school what we will do in the years ahead.
To me the best thing the public school could do is to put God back into the school. If students were taught the from the Bible there would be less evil in the world. If they would just teach the students the really right and wrongs we would have a better future for everyone. This is what I think the public school could do to prepare us better for the future.

The Pros and Cons of Public School.

Some people feel that the public school system does not adequately prepare students for the real world. This is often true because although it does give students the opportunity to socialize with other people, the way they will once they get out into the real world, the discipline is often not up to par with what it will be in college, and in the work place. A change that could be made is obvious; increase and improve discipline systems.
The problem most people see with homeschooling is the students don’t get the social skills that children in public school get. So a main advantage to public school is you get the right social skills which would help you in college, getting a job, and maintaining a career that you enjoy. Also, the right social skills will help students in making friends, resolving conflicts, and persuading people if they’re lawyers or salespeople. However, the problem with public school, is the disciplinary action taken against students is often minimum and can be persuaded by the students, parents, or the relationship between the student and teacher. The main thing is deadlines. Often, if a student doesn’t get in an assignment on time, the teacher is willing to give them more time if they can come up with a legitimate excuse. However, in the real world if something is late, you either get a zero, or fired if it’s in your job. Also, public school students often get away with much more than they should such as skipping classes, back talking, and doing things at the minimum. This will not get them very far once they get out of high school.
This could easily be improved by cracking down on discipline in public schools. If they were to take it more seriously, public school could better prepare students for the real world. This is why I think Christian school is the best opportunity because it gives the student social opportunities and most Christian schools are more strict on discipline.

Rutilant.....

Austin and I went on another journey to the center of the Berean school and asked people what they thought the word rutilant meant. Here are the results....again

Zackeus- "like persistant"

Chase- "wiggly"
Caleb Keeling- "well I guess rude"

Sarah- shiny!!!

And the word rutilant means "glowing or glistening with golden light"
I would like to say that I had to give Sarah a hint before she could come up with an answer that close to what it really meant. So another Austin and Caleb word definition quest has come and gone and so now I would like to know what you thought rutilant meant.

Murder on the Grill

My character was Dan Dragnet. I am an actor that will be starring as a detective in an upcoming movie. I had just arrived at the police station to get a feel for the detective role, and then we got a call about a murder. I jumped at the chance to go with the actual detectives, in my mind I was thinking how much my fans would adore me, had I got the chance to solve a murder. It only took 3 hours before I sniffed out the murderer. It was Tiara, actually, it was her twin sister Hope. So I am so excited for my movie. Also, I love you fans!!!!!

Murder Mystery Game!!

Well since we had a leap year this year our Journalism class played a murder mystery game. This murder took place in Tom Dooley's backyard. He had a BARBEQUE FORK IN HIS CHEST!!!!!!!! would be a painful way to die! We found out  that it wasn't even one of the guests there! It was accually Tom's wife's twin sister!! ..... shocking right! Anyways it was very fun and I enjoyed it alot!

                                                                                                      - Dakota

Barby Q is Innocent!

Ok so Brooke Keeling and I played a bad person that tanned a lot in a murder mystery activity. Her name was Barby Q and she is definately an interesting person. So this guy, named Tom, that was grilling chicken and somebody stabbed him with a fork in the heart and killed him. And apparently my character stole Tom from his wife. This led many people to think that we killed Mr. Tom but the truth is that the woman that we stole Tom from killed Tom. Her name is none other than Tiara....I know she sounds like a drama queen and she is.

Caleb Hoenshell

The Murder Mystery Game

Well, in honor of Leap Year, we decided to play this mystery game in journalism class for a couple of days. It was called "Murder on the Grill" and the game was set in the 1950's.  There were many characters that some of the students played as, such as Barby Q ( Caleb and Brooke ), Ivan Spudnik ( Jordan ), and Johnny Angel ( Escher ). Dakota and I played as Chubby Cheddar, a black musician. The story was that Tom Dooley had a BBQ for all his friends ( the students ) and it turns out, one of the characters killed Tom with a fork. So the whole game was characters accusing other characters, trying to figure out who killed Tom. So it was a pretty fun game, and we eventually found out who did it. It was Tiara's ( Sarah ) twin sister Hope. And she wasn't even in the game. So none of the characters did it, but it was still a pretty fun game.

                                               - Austin :)

Monica Jones' Role In The Game

In the game Mystery I was a girl named Bobby Sox. The basic story was that there was a bunch of people having a cook out and then there was a huge thunderstorm and they all ran inside and they came back out like ten minutes later and Tom (the host) was dead with his cooking fork in his chest. After long and boring questions we have found out that Tom had an affair with his fiances sister (Hope) and Tiara was driven crazy and she was in an insane asylum and Hope was there at the cook out as Tiara  and she killed Tom because she was so mad.

the mystery thingy

So for the last three days we have been playing this mystery game it is kinda like a roll playing game. My character was a tall blonde...girl named Barby-Q, who tans in her front yard and is very good friends with Tom, very good friends(wink)(wink). Now in case you didnt know Tom was the poor man who died by being stabbed in the chest with a barbeque fork during a storm. Now normally I wouldnt say there was anything wrong with Braby-Q  and Toms love other than Tom was engeged to another woman. Now as suspicious as Barby-Q sounds unfortunately she did not kill Tom. I was hopeing I did but I didnt, Oh well, so sad Tiara got to kill Tom.

Murder on the Grill ~ Johnny Angel ~ Escher Dollar

In the "Murder on the Grill", I played as Johnny Angel. We were just trying to figure out the murderer of the party host named Tom. I supposely a mechanic but as it turns out I was a KGB agent on a mission to return Ivan Spudnik to Russia. In the end I was not a the murderer, the murderer was this the twin sister of a girl named Tiara.

Tiara Diamond (Sarah Baker)

Keegan and I was Tiara Diamond in the game Murder On The Grill. Tiara Diamond was Tom's(the man who got killed) Fiance. Who was also having a baby. We ended up being the murderer and we was really Tiara's twin sister hope.

Tiara Diamond

In the game Murder On The Grill, Sarah Baker and I got Tiara Diamond for our suspect of the killing at the cook out, which is Tom's Fiance. It turns out that Tom was murdered by Tiara's evil twin Hope, while Tiara was in a mental hospital at the time. So yea that was pretty much it....

By:Keegan mcguire

Ivan Spudnic .......... Jordan wyatt

hi my name is Ivan... i came here from mother russia to start a new life. I have had a hard time learning english but its getting gooder. I had made a friend, his name was Tom but he was killed by evil woman then a kgb agent took me back to russia.

Ashlee's Role in Mystery Game.

My role in the mystery game that the English class has been playing the past few days was Peggy Sue. I was a dectective in charge of questioning the suspects and having them act out things that happened during the murder. Throught the game, I thought the murderer was Bobby Sox, the victim's sister, but we then found out the actual murderer was the victims' fiance's twin sister, Hope.

What Does "conundrum" Mean?

Well, this week Caleb and I went around BCA asking what a certain word means. This week, we asked what "conundrum" meant.

Mr. Holder said- " A big round drum"

Chase said- " An African percussion instrument"

   Zack said- " A problem, ain't it?"

Sarah said- "Ummm yellow looks good on saturdays"

Dakota said- " A word you would say when you're in a bad situation"

The word meant " a riddle; the answer to which involves a pun or a play on words"

Colorado

Some of the high-schoolers went on a college trip in Colorado. The long drive wasnt very fun at all because we were all cramped in a little van, but when we finally got to the cabin that we were staying at it got a little better from there. We stayed at the cabin for at least two nights, which was pretty awesome because we had a couple of people come and do worship with us, then pretty much the rest of the time we watched movies or just talked to each other, or we just went in the steamroom. My favorite part of the trip was when we went up to the mountains to go snow tubing it was pretty fun, especially when monica and meghan and I went backwards while spinning.

What do you think vilipend means?

Well to be honest I have absolutely no clue, but that's why the good Lord gave us computers. So Austin and I went on yet another one of our quests to see what people thought the word vilipend means. Here are the results:
Chase- to be pinned against something against your will
Zack- ummm plowing....(like a farmer)
Ashtyn- something penned up (like a dog)
Jordan- when a villain is locked up in a pen (like a boss)

Well vilipend actually means to regard or treat as of little value or account. This is pretty interesting, don't you think? Well I imagine next week Austin and I will do another one of these so goodbye for now.

Spirit Week

Colorado Trip

So this past week a few kids (Monica, Jonathan, Escher, Keegan, and Meghan) all went to Colorado and we had lots and lots of fun. I think we all like snow tubing and we liked how the campus was small but the people at CCU were very on fire for God. And loved to have Student- Lead Mission trips. I think that it would be a great school to go to. I liked Estes Park and how we got to go shopping all day long. THANK YOU MOMMA THOMPSON AND POPPA T.!!!

Character Day.... By: Brooke Keeling

Well today has been awesome because we all dressed up like different characters. The outfits today have been beyond awesome and extremely inspiring.  For example we had a bunch of cowboys and hunters a thing one and thing two and even a Juliet. I myself chose the role of the cat in the hat as did Mrs.Hall only her hat was bigger, but im not hateing, im just a little upset. All in all it was in amazing and super cool day.

Snow Day

Monday we had our very first snow day here at BCA And it was nice to have a day off for a change. I was hoping for another day off, however that wasn't in mother nature's agenda for that day so sadly we had school. What are some of the things that you blog viewers like to do on snow days? Leave your comments below! ..... please comment because no one ever does... :(

Spirit Week

So today was Character Day and almost everyone dressed up as their favorite movie, book, or television character. The costumes here today are amazing. For example, Mr. Holder was Underdog, Mrs. Thompson was Juliet, and I was Percy Jackson from Percy Jackson and the Olympian books/movie. My favorite part about today was seeing Mrs hall, Mrs Young, and Mrs Lucas. Mrs Hall was the Cat in the Hat and Mrs Young and Mrs Lucas was Thing 1 and Thing 2.

Spirit Week

Well, this week we are having Spirirt Week at BCA. On Monday, we were supposed to have PJ day, but we got snow, so we missed that day. Tuesday was BCA Fan/ Sports Day, and we had a lot of school and team spirit going around. We saw football jerseys, like Tebow, and some other jerseys. Today was Character day, and we saw some Cat in the Hat, Perry the Platypus, Bible characters, and some other book and movie characters. Tomorrow is Crazy Hair/ Crazy Clothes Day, so that should be a pretty interesting day.  :)

(Sarah Baker) spirit week character day

Almost every body dressed up today. I was Blair of gossip girl and I was almost the only one who got it.

Spirit Week

Well, today is character day and what that means is that you just dress up as your favorite character. Whether you dress up as the Incredible Hulk, Cat in the Hat, or even Richard Nixon, all your awesome costumes are always accepted at B.C.A. at spirit week on character day. Yesterday, we had fan day which means that you dress up as your favorite athlete of all time. Some people did Tim Tebow, while others did some other person that I don't know. It was sure a fun day yesterday, mainly because I got to wear a t-shirt without tucking it in. Tomorrow will be crazy hair day and also pajama day.....can't wait.

-Caleb Hoenshell

Spirit Week ~ Escher Dollar

Today on Spirit Week, we were suppose to dress up as a character from nearly any movie, book, etc. Personally I didn't dress up because  I didn't have anything to were and I couldn't think of anybody. Tomorrow is pajama/crazy hair/crazy clothes day, and I plan to were my pajamas. I just hope it will be fun.

Spirit week (Sarah Baker) bca fan day

High School Colorado Trip

Hello fellow bloggers!  I just wanted to share with you the amazing time that we are having in Colorado.  Monica, Jonathan, Escher, Keegan and Meghan were able to experience Colorado Christian University, and we are now in beautiful Estes Park!

Our entrance to Estes was accompanied by soaring mountain peaks lightly shrowded in mist, like a veil being removed.  The twighlight rained down on us as snow began to fall.  Our cabin became warm and inviting, just like the warm soup on a winter night we consumed for dinner.  Praise and worship music was played, and our first evening in Estes slowly wound down to a lull and then a slumber.

Rocky Mountain National Park was our first interprise this morning after a long awaited breakfast.  All of the group piled into the van and set out to view God's creation at its finest.  Snow blanketed the landscape while Elk rested within its cover.  Mr. Kirkland fearlessly drove on snowy roads, and the kids had a great time pelting me with snow!

The rest of the day was spent exploring downtown Estes Park.  We are going out for dinner tonight before taking the long drive home in the morning.  Please pray for our safety as we travel home!

God Bless!

CashFlow

Well the game of CashFlow has been lost for me.....  :( Brooke the truck driver won the game. This is funny because I was a Doctor and lost haha..... O well as my buddy Tim says " Life goes on..." Now it's a battle to the death for second place!!! I wish you all the best of luck!

SWACC

Well today we went on a SWACC tour. For those of you who don't know what it means SWACC stands for Southwest Area Career Center. It is like a place that you go and learn a trade. For example they have auto collision and welding etc. I thought that it was a fun tour but I don't know if I am going or not.

SWACC

Today I went to the SWACC or Southwest Area Career Center. I visited the culinary arts class      and ate a cinnimon roll. We wnt to graphic design and took pictures and then edited them. We also went to Marketing and watched their videos. I liked the trip, but im going to focus on academics.

SWACC ~ Escher Dollar

I went to SWACC today and got to see a few classes. One class I would really like to take is Graphic design & Marketing to learn Adobe Photoshop and maybe a few other programs if they allow it. That is the only class there I really would love to take.

Swacc - Sarah Baker

Today everyone in my class went to swac. Culinary Arts was the best for me i really liked it. We also went to marking. It was ok. we got popcorn and drinks after the thing was done.

SWACC Tour

Well today we went on a tour of South West Area Career Center and looked at their facilities and people that go there. The things there were very impressive as far as the work shops for their classes that were focused on engineering and mechanics with cars and body work. Dakota seemed to like the class of computer assisted engineering and I thought that it was pretty neat myself but not something I would want to do for a career. I didn't really find anything that I would want to do for a career but I shall keep thinking about it.

Caleb Hoenshell

SWACC Trip :)

So the Sophmores went to SWACC to do their tour. I really like the Culinary Arts because when I get older I want to be a Baker and I really like Mrs. Fuller and my brother took that class and I can get help from him and then we went to multiple things other people wanted to look at but mostly I really would like to be in the Culinary Arts.

The End of Cashflow

Well, the game of "Cashflow" has come to an end. The final winner, our very own truck driver, Brooke Keeling, finally  had enough money to buy her dream. Me though, it was a different story. I didn't even get out of the Rat Race, only ending up with some $4,000 and a child. So I didn't win, but I guess it was ok for me because it was my first time playing.

                                                    - Austin :)

cashflow

Brooke won the Cashflow game that we were playing..... even though she won the game we still played on.....

Tim Moore Cashflow

Well I ended up with alot of money and only 1 investment.I was getting $1,110 monthly.I had 100 shares of GRO4US inc.

Rat Race - Sarah Baker

Brooke won the cashflow game. No one else even got into the fast lane but her and plus she landed her dream after like to turns so the game is over.

Cash flow

I won... I won.... I won... I won the whole game all by myself, with masons help. I started out with the least amount of money and made it all up in a very short amount of time. I was the only person that ever got out of the rat race...Ever, in the whole game... Im just good like that I guess. O well I mostly just feel bad cause no one else got to win. The end...Yay!!!
By: Brooke Keeling

Cashflow Gameover :(

So Brooke Keeling won the Cashflow game. She is the only person that got out of the Rat Race and so she won the whole game because she landed on her dream and bought it. I didnt get out of the Rat Race but I ended with a lot of money but I like how the game taught us how to manage our money and how we should use our money wisely.

7th-11th fruit of the spirt student of the month by Jordan

Rat Race ~ Escher Dollar

This week in the rat race I am doing pretty good. I sold my stock for MYT4U entertainment, which is good because it went down and the people who still had the stock lost have their money. I got another stock for ON2U entertainment for $5. I also got a stock for OK4U Drug Co. I've made around $60,000, combining my paycheck with my stocks, so far as business manager I hope to soon get out of the rat race and achieve my dream.

Cashflow

So, in journalism class, we are playing a new game called "Cashflow." In the game, you have a job and try to get out of the "Rat Race" and try to get on the "Fast Track" while paying child expenses, home mortgages, car payments, etc. My role is a nurse, and my monthly cashflow was some $ 1,000, but I had a child in the game. I now make $ 950, and my income is $3,100. My mortgage is $47,000 and my total expenses are $2,150. I have made some money on stocks, but the total I have right now is some $3,000. So I'm pretty far away from the "Fast Track", but maybe I will get a good deal on a stock or something. So that's all for now, I will update my status ASAP.

                                                                                      - Austin :)

Cashflow Game

So we have been playing this game called Cashflow and its about money and how a person should keep and give away their money. I have gotten some paycheck and I have invested some money into a couple stocks

Life in the midst of rats

In our Journalism class we are playing the  game "CashFlow". For all those who have no clue what this is, CashFlow is a game about managing your money and getting out of the rat race. I am playing the role of a Doctor. At the begining of the game I had a leg up on the competition because I was making the most money. However a few bad condo purchases landed me a spot towards the bottom of the leaderboards. So now i've got a long road ahead to the top. So far only one person has made it out of the ratrace, It would be our very own truck driver played by Brooke Keeling.

                                                                                                      - Dakota

Cashflow

My name is Tim and im a teacher and i dont get that much money, in the game CashflowI  have 100 shares of GRO4US buisness, they cost $10 a share.I have a $3,300 salary.

Cash flow! By: Jordan

Well over this past week I have bought a condo, and have also had a kid and she got married.

Rat race(Sarah Baker)

This this my first week at bca and i stared the game cash I'm a secrectary and so far all i've done is had one kid and at a few pay checks.

Rat Race Continued

Well we're still roll playing as rats in the game "Cashflow" and I'm doing pretty good if I do say so myself. I am second only to the truck driver Brooke Keeling who has over $500,000.....I am so envious of her money. And what is kind of ironic is she started out as the one with the lest money out of all of us. But for more information on me, I have a little over $76,000, make $2,080 every pay check, and I am a lawyer. So I'm in ok shape for now

CASH FLOW

I am still a Janitor, I have 0 cashflow, and i recently bought new tires for a car I dont have, so basically I am losing. My dream is still a Cannes Movie Festival with the stars! Look I added a new color!

I am a lawyer and so far I am not out of the rat race. But then again, nobody is so I'm not the only one. I have a secret weapon for getting out of it though....I'm going to remember to ask for my paycheck every turn I have because I've noticed some people are forgetting this.

The Weekly LOL ~ New Year (late) ~ Escher Dollar

We all know you're going to pick option B.

RF Track of the Week ~ One-Eyed Maestro ~ Escher Dollar

Here is the first piece I picked for "RF Track of the Week". The website describes it as "bouncy, eerie, and humorous". "This is the kind of music that makes skeletons dance. With its pounding brass, singsong flute melody, and off-kilter syncopation, this piece is whimsical and reminiscent of a carnival. It is quirky, quick, playful, and dangerously creepy, and is perfect for a lively cartoon, circus-themed content, or a magician’s show." Hope you enjoy it.

My dream job

My dream job is to be a nothing doer. You know I just look good and pretend like I'm doing something.
So I would do nothing, get paid lots of money, and get credit for someone elses work. The best part is all I have to do is look good. Thats my dream job..... kinda... sorta.... O well Im done with this blog now.

I would like to make and design stuff like guns. The engineering field is something I would be interested in so really anything that has to do with designing things, but I also find interest in the computer and electronics field. Then again, I like a lot of things but I'm not really good at any one thing. Like the whole, jack of all traits but master of none.  I'm not entirely sure about what I want to be so I kind of just threw this together off the top of my head. Forgive me for being unprepared.

Dream Job

For my dream job I would have to say that I want to be an Engineer. This is accually a job that I have wanted to have since I was in the 7th grade. I have always been interested in building things and fixing what has already been created. That is why I think that Engineering would be a great profession for me.

Monica's Dream job

I want to be a baker, I think it would be fun and I don't like desserts but I like to make them. I don't know for sure how much I would make but I'm sure it would be alot around here because there aren't that many people who do homeade bakerys around here.

Gastropod

I asked some people" What do you think the word gastropod mean?"and here are some of the answers I got: A growth in your intestine, when you are overcome with gas, a type of monstrous snail, the thing that hangs off a cows neck, and an ipod that continuously blows up.All of these answers were good but the true meaning of gastropod is the part of the animal kingdom with snails slugs and stuff like that.

Top Five Songs Sung in Berean

Now at Berean, the students tend to sing a bunch of songs that are very random. So I got to thinking, why not post these songs on the blog for everyone to enjoy? So here they are...

5: Not Alone by Red, sometimes the guys get together in the bathroom and sing this at the top of their lungs. Jordan Wyatt plays the guitar for us when we do this.

4: Our God is Greater by Chris Tomlin, we sing this quite frequently for chapel and it is sung a lot out of chapel as well.

3:  Hold Me by Jamie Grace feat. Toby Mac, you'll have to get Monica Jones to sing this to you sometime because she does it a lot and is talented at it.

2: Never Let Go by Matt Redman, we just sing this to annoy Brooke...

1: Gone by Switchfoot, Jordan started started singing this song a while back and it has just kind of stuck since then. We also do many parodies of this song.

Feel free to look these songs up if you ever feel the urge. Here at B.C.A we love singing songs especially these five songs. Hope you enjoy them and God bless.

Basketball Update

Well, it is now the end of our Christmas break. That means back to basketball. We had a game last Thursday, and it didn't go so well for the boys. The girls did good, winning well.... I don't remember the score, but they won by like, 20. The boys, well, that was a different story. We had too many turnovers, didn't use the backboard on close shots, and let their offense get past us on defense. We lost by like, 10. We have practice today, so I think we will pay for our mistakes that we had in that game. We also have  other games  this week, so somebody will update on those games.

What is your New Year's Resolution?

I went all around the school and asked some of the teachers and some students what there New Year's Resolution was. Coach said that his resolution was to stop answering questions.  Mr. Nolland said that his was to eat more salad and go for a walk once a day. Noah said that he was going to beat up his brother more.Mrs Swan said that her New Year's Resolution was to read the Bible more and to make a thanksgiving calender and write down every thing that she is thankful.

How to survive B.C.A.

Even if you aren't a student at Berean Christian Academy, it's still important to know what to do to not be written up and/or get made fun of by Coach. So I have taken it upon myself to help you out if you ever find yourself at Berean without knowing what to do.

Rule One: Abide by the dress code; in B.C.A. there is nothing that can ruin your day more than getting written up and sent to the office because of not wearing the proper attire....unless you don't care about getting in trouble, then it's not that bad.

Rule two: When you first arrive here, the Coach will probably have you do a bunch of errands such as: hauling tables up and down stairs, cleaning the basketball van, and (my personal favorite) hauling lockers to wherever they must go. And this kind of labor will continue throughout your stay at Berean.

And rule three: It never hurts to be an Arkansas Razorbacks fan just to please Coach: Coach has been a die hard Razorbacks fan for a loonngg time so if you want to suck up to him, Razorbacks stuff is the way to go.

Remember my friends, information is power and I hope this information is helpfull in your quest through Berean, may God bless you all.

Prayer Tuesday's

Ok, so some of the high school students have proposed a grand idea: to start having prayer every Tuesday morning. The junior high and senior high students will go into Mr. Holder's room and either pray with other students or pray by themselves. They don't have to go and pray in the room if they don't want to; the students can choose to stay in their homeroom and have devotions with their teacher. Also, there will be a notebook for students to write their prayer requests in.

What's Your Favorite Holiday?

Austin and I decided to go on another extravaganza around the school asking people what their favorite holiday is. Here's the results...

Chase- Christmas
Monica- Halloween
Coach-  My birthday (I don't think that really counts though)
Mrs. Larmer- Thanksgiving
Mr. Holder- Easter

Well these results certainly are nifty, but I want to know what your favorite holiday is. So, if you have the time, leave us your answers in the comment section below.

Sad News :(

Well as they say, all good things must come to an end. This is true for Christmas break. Our Christmas break has just ended  today. Now it's back to the old swing of thing's. No more staying up till 3 a.m. playing Xbox. It's homework and lecture time. But it's not all bad school will help us succeed in life. So everyone just try and make the best of it. :)

                                                                  Well that's all for now,
